Club Information
Karate-London, now part of Shotokan Karate England, has clubs in the
Chingford, Enfield, Edmonton, Walthamstow, Larkswood, Whitechapel,
Leyton, Tring, Harlow, Woodford, South Woodford, Wanstead
and Waltham Abbey areas. These Shotokan Karate Clubs have established
a standard for Karate in London and the South of England that is unparalleled.
Many adults and Juniors who have started as beginners in the clubs, have
gone on to reach Black Belt level and achieve National and International
success.
You will be assured of a warm welcome to the clubs by Rod and his team
of fully qualified Black Belt Instructors who will ensure that you enjoy
your karate training and also get the best from yourself. Over the years
the clubs have produced more than 180 Black Belts and
numerous National and International Champions.
Sensei Enoeda
Sensei Rod Butler the clubs' Chief Instructor, has over 30 years of experience in Shotokan Karate. He was a long time member of the KUGB and the JKA and achieved his 4th Dan KUGB JKA under Sensei Enoeda in May 1999 at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre in London. The late Sensei Enoeda was the highly respected Chief Instructor of the KUGB as well as the Chief Instructor of JKA Europe. Sensei Rod achieved his 5th Dan in October 2005.
Karate Classes for Everyone
Throughout each week there are classes especially targeted towards beginners,
intermediate, and advanced Black and Brown Belt students and instructors.
You can choose which classes are suitable for you on our Club Locations
page and then come along and watch a class in progress. Naturally, if
you are keen and wish to start straightaway, you can. You need no special
clothing to start, just something loose fitting and comfortable.

Books Magazines & Videos
As well as running the clubs, Rod has written articles for various Martial
Arts publications including SHOTOKAN MAGAZINE, TRADITIONAL
KARATE and FIGHTING ARTS INTERNATIONAL. He also
assisted in the production of Sensei Enoeda's series
of DVDs, VIDEOS AND BOOKS on advanced SHOTOKAN
KATA.
Rod has also travelled to Japan, training at the famous JKA Dojo
in Tokyo and has completed a BOOK about the late SENSEI
ENOEDA 9th Dan with photos, notes and information collected over
many years. Look out for: 'KEINOSUKE ENOEDA~TIGER
OF SHOTOKAN KARATE.'
Rod has re-written and edited 'Funakoshi
~ Father of Modern Karate' with the Chief Instructor of
Finland Sensei Willy Ortiz. This book is now published
and is available via email from this website.
He is currently writing the biography of Sensei Teruyuki Okazaki
10th Dan, the chief instructor of the
ISKF in the USA.
The book entitled 'Okazaki ~ Karate Legend'
will be available shortly.
